Pastor Brian Matthew Markle’s journey to sobriety is a testament to resilience and dedication. He has been sober for many years, a journey that began with his commitment to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). His former sponsor, Tom Deafy, played a significant role in his recovery, always encouraging him with the mantra, “One Day at a Time.”

In addition to his work at the camp, Markle’s involvement in the Residential School Hearing in 2016, where he supported Deafy against a nun from the Catholic Church who had abused him, highlights his commitment to justice and healing. This experience further strengthened his resolve to help others and advocate for those who have suffered.
